#19b, 22, 1c Blue, Ty. Ic, vertical pair, the bottom pair in a very rare combination vertical strip of three with Ty. III at top, positions 71/ 81/ 91R4, a
marvelous left sheet margin strip (showing 3mm of the sheet margin), the top stamp being Ty. III, while the center and bottom stamp are the very scarce Ty. Ic, and the bottom stamp (position 96R4) is the best position found on the sheet displaying
this distinctive type, gloriously deep color and prooflike impressions, very light and unobtrusive strikes of blue town postmarks, negligible small flaws, still quite fine; it is thought that this may be the only known multiple containing
Ty. Ic stamps, only these two positions on the sheet can produce a Ty. Ic vertical pair; clear 1966 PF certificate; ex-Ishikawa. (Image) |

26A |
#26A, 3c Dull red, Ty. IV, the single offered here is probably the finest used example of this stamp in existence, as it possesses numerous physical
characteristics that cannot be improved upon, including perfect centering amid uncommonly wide margins, but just as impressive is this stamp's eye-arresting color in an incredibly dark shade and an impression that would rival any proof, neat blue
c.d.s. cancel, a superb gem for the collector who insists on only the best; 2009 PSE certificate (Superb 98; SMQ does not price higher than 95 which it lists at $1,150.00 - obviously irrelevant on a stamp of this caliber); the sole used #26A in
the PSE population report and the highest grade they have awarded this stamp. (Image) |
