EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1909 50-CENT PERF 12 DOUBLE-LINE WATERMARK ISSUE. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT DENOMINATIONS OF THE SET TO OBTAIN IN SUCH CHOICE CONDITION. THIS STAMP HAS BEEN GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. -- ONLY ONE HAS GRADED HIGHER TO DATE.
Collectors searching for this denomination in higher grades are often frustrated in their search. The margins are often narrow, and production difficulties resulted in many off-center stamps or rejected sheets which were destroyed. This led to the Bluish Paper experiments. The stamp offered here is a true condition rarity.
With 2010 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95, SMQ $5,700.00). Only one has graded higher to date (at 98) and only two others share this grade. (Image)

EXTREMELY FINE. A REMARKABLY FRESH EXAMPLE OF THE 1909 10-CENT HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 356. SCARCE IN SUCH PRISTINE CONDITION.
With 2000 P.F. certificate (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. WITHOUT QUESTION THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLES OF THE 5-CENT WASHINGTON ON BLUISH PAPER IN EXISTENCE. A REMARKABLE STAMP IN TERMS OF GUM, CENTERING, SIZE OF MARGINS AND COLOR. THIS SUPERB STAMP HAS BEEN GRADED XF-90 BY P.S.E. -- THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED TO DATE AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE.
We have only been able to locate two examples comparable to the stamp offered here. One was offered in the Zoellner sale. The other was offered in the Floyd sale held by Shreves.
Ex "Beverly Hills". 2005 P.F. certificate no longer accompanies. P.S.E. encapsulated (XF 90, SMQ $32,500.00). This is the highest grade awarded to date in the P.S.E. Population Report and no other example shares this grade. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN EXTRAORDINARY STAMP -- POST-OFFICE FRESH, PERFECTLY CENTERED, MINT NEVER-HINGED AND WITH FULL CORNER SHEET MARGINS. IN OUR EXPERIENCE, THIS IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE FINEST-QUALITY BLUISH PAPER STAMP IN EXISTENCE.
The 4c and 8c stamps are correctly recognized as the rarest of the Bluish Paper issue, but they were never sold over the post office counter and used by the public. Of the values that were regularly issued, the 5c is the rarest, followed by the 13c, and then by the 15c, 10c, 6c and 3c (the 1c and 2c are common). If Mint Never-Hinged stamps are isolated from the supply available to collectors, the rarity factors increase significantly for all of the values. The 15c is extremely rare in well-centered Mint N.H. condition.
This Mint Never-Hinged stamp, with full corner sheet margins and perfect centering, is not just the finest 15c Bluish Paper example we can locate in our extensive records -- it is, in our opinion, the finest single example of any of the higher-denomination Bluish Paper stamps. There is simply nothing that compares to it. That said, the very slightly skewed perforations, which are often found in corner-margin positions, keeps this beautiful example from a grade of 90 or 95. However, stamps like this transcend numerical grading.
Ex Whitman. With 2000 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (VF-XF 85, SMQ $4,600.00). Only three have graded higher to date in the P.S.E. Population Report and only three others share this grade. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT 1910 WASHINGTON ISSUE IN THE SCARCE LAKE SHADE.
Through an error at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a small quantity of this stamp was erroneously printed using the inks in use at the time for the Postage Due issues.
With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (OGph, XF 90 Jumbo, SMQ $1,500.00 as 90, $2,450.00 as 95) (Image)
VERY FINE AND CHOICE BLOCK OF THE 2-CENT 1910 WASHINGTON IN THE SCARCE LAKE SHADE. THIS IS THE FIRST MULTIPLE WE HAVE OFFERED SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS.
Through an error at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a small quantity of this stamp was printed using the inks in use at the time for the Postage Due issues.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE AND DESIRABLE PLATE BLOCK OF THE 2-CENT 1910 WASHINGTON ISSUE IN THE LAKE SHADE.
Our computerized records contain 20 lots offered in our sales over the past 18 years. Of these, only two were blocks (of four) and only one was Mint N.H.. This plate block, containing three Mint N.H. stamps, is a phenomenal rarity.
