3161°		BRITISH HONDURAS, 1888, 2c on 50c on 1sh Gray, "TWO" Surcharge in Both Red and Black (26b; SG 35c). Original gum, attractive color, characteristic endorsement on the reverse by postmaster W.G. Aikman ("No. 1 W.G.A. 6/11/88") VERY FINE. AN IMPORTANT RARITY OF BRITISH HONDURAS AND OF THE ENTIRE BRITISH EMPIRE. NO MORE THAN EIGHT CAN EXIST IN PRIVATE HANDS. One block of ten stamps was printed with both the red and black surcharge. The Post Office retained one, which was subsequently destroyed by fire. Another resides in the Royal Collection. That leaves no more than eight possible examples for collectors. Ex Ferrary, Melat and "Sovereign". Signed Bloch. With 1985 Holcombe and 2008 B.P.A. certificates.
