1121		CANADA, 1857, 6p Reddish Purple, Very Thick Soft Wove Paper (10; SG 23). Unused (no gum), large margins all around, uncommonly fresh and rich color, highly detailed impression EXTREMELY FINE. AN IMMENSELY RARE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 6-PENCE REDDISH PURPLE, SCOTT NO. 10. ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF LESS THAN A DOZEN BELIEVED TO EXIST. Of the less than twelve unused examples in private hands, virtually all are no gum and most have faults to some degree (some quite extensive and/or repaired). We can only locate one other sound, four-margined example comparable to this example (ex Dauer, which realized $42,500.00, plus buyer's premium in 2014). Ex "Foxbridge". A REMARKBLE USE OF THE 1857 6-PENCE ON VERY THICK SOFT WOVE PAPER WITH IMPRINT MARGIN ON CROSS-BORDER COVER. Only 30 covers have been recorded. Ex Moody, Guilford and Wilkinson.
