It is interesting to note that this is one of only two Chicago precancel examples in our census with the precancel right side up (the other is offered in lot 2009). Twelve singles and two pairs are known with the inverted precancel.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE PAIR OF THE 1914 ONE-CENT PERF 12 x 10 ISSUE.
Our census of Scott 423A, available from our website at: http://www.siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/423A/423A.pdf, contains 35 used singles, five used pairs, the unique used block of four (offered in lot 2007), and three covers (one with a pair). One pair in our census which had a genuine certificate recently received a certificate as a counterfeit.
